Lingeer/Linguè€re was the title given to the Mother or Sister of a King in pre-colonial Senegal. The word "Lingeer" means "Queen" or “Princess” in the Wolof language. These powerful Women were said to both make and unmake Kings & history remembers their significance in resistance efforts to colonial conquest.
These beautiful Lingeer Dolls, handmade by the Wolof of Senegal, honor and represent the eternal power, strength and countless contributions of African Queens throughout the world, yesterday and today.
Each hand-made Lingeer doll comes in a variety of colorful, vibrant fabrics and patterns, either standing or seated. While we cannot guarantee a specific color, if you have a preference, please specify in the Comments section of your order. Otherwise, we will select a beautiful one just for you!
Size: Seated dolls are approximately 8" tall. Standing dolls are approximately 12" tall.
