Mami Wata refers to a family of water Spirits with diverse roots in various African cultures.

This ancient and maternal Spirit holds a prominent place in West, Central and Southern Africa, as well as throughout the Diaspora. She, along with the vibrant host of aquatic Spirits under Her name and command, honors the sacred essence of water.

While Mami Wata's blessings are as varied as Her imagery, above all, Mami Wata is a Mother. If Her children seek the blessings of abundance, Her waters can provide for them. If Her children seek emotional balance and cleansing, Her waters can wash them clean. In addition to all of the blessings that a Mother provides, She is strongly associated with bringing good fortune and prosperous business.
